RACHAEL GROVES: SHOWCASING A PASSIONATE DRIVE TO IMPROVE THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

April 15 2025

As one of the construction industry’s leading providers of modular riser flooring solutions, Ambar Kelly is committed to enhancing the safety and buildability of riser shafts and high-risk buildings (HRB) across the UK. A key feature of this drive to improve the built environment is the staff it employs – highlighted by Contracts Manager, Rachael Groves.

Joining Ambar Kelly in 2017, Rachael worked closely with the Company Director to process project estimates – demonstrating a keen eye for detail and a drive for efficiency. Within a short time, her contributions became invaluable, developing enhancements to the estimating process that substantially accelerated calculations and set her apart as a rising talent – not only within Ambar Kelly but the built environment as a whole.

Nowhere was this reflected better than during a major repurposing project for William Hare at Triton Square. On such a comprehensive project, the seamless monitoring of the manufacturing and deliveries of the RiserSafe system was absolutely imperative. Additionally, it required the collation of all detailing, drawings, and modelling to streamline the process.

Acknowledging Rachael’s strengths, Ambar Kelly’s Managing Director, Alex Bardett, entrusted her with managing the information exchange and document control. This was an absolutely crucial role that required strong communication and exceptional precision.

Building solid relationships with all stakeholders and ensuring every detail of coordination and documentation was meticulously handled, Rachael excelled in the role. So much so that by project conclusion, William Hare had come to rely on her expertise – even reaching out for assistance beyond the project’s scope.

It wasn’t long before her talents attracted the attention of Ambar Kelly’s Managing Director, so when Rachael expressed a desire to further her career, Alex offered her a promotion to Contracts Manager.

In the past four years, she has continued to excel, demonstrating first-class organisational skills and maintaining up-to-date knowledge across all projects under her control.

Beyond management, Rachael has played a crucial role in innovation, working closely with clients and colleagues to refine best practices. As a result, many of her contributions have now become standard practice, such as a new cast-in system for securing RiserSafe in position – significantly enhancing project execution.

Additionally, Rachael’s organisational and relationship-building skills have been crucial in the company gaining several lucrative contracts. In fact, the principal contractor for a recently completed project specifically requested Rachael following her exceptional work on other developments.

Alex Bardett, Ambar Kelly’s Managing Director, highlighted the vital role she has played in many of the company’s most successful projects. He said: “We’ve been so impressed with Rachael’s dedication, and she’s really become a voice of authority. People listen to her and she’s been a source of inspiration for Ambar Kelly employees and those outside the company.

“She’s played a crucial role in many of our major projects, such as Triton Square, and The Edge, and has made an incredible impression on our clients. She is a real credit to our company.”
